Come check out South Texas. Every time I’m waiting at the red light by the local high school there is at least one lifted full size pickup full of 17 year old boys stuck there with me.

Definitely a suburb thing here. Where I live, most of these kids’ parents are doctors, lawyers, bankers, etc. in the city, live in the burbs, and have some patch of land in the country. The kids spend a few weekends a year out at their “farm” and get the big truck bug and their parents have the money to oblige.

Actually, when it comes to the high county numbers, the redneck trucks are the only ones that I can at least count on keeping with the flow of traffic and not going 15 under with their blinker on before making a sudden and random swerve off to one side. They may be aggressive, but it’s better than the terrified obliviousness that a lot of rural drivers seem to inherently possess when they get into urban traffic.
